Your outdoor résumé doesn’t have to include international expeditions, big wall climbs, or technical ascents. That’s not what we’re looking for here, and neither are you. It’s ok to be a novice – the fact that you want to learn is a beautiful thing. What we are looking for are things like perspective, insight, and renewal. The wilderness is a place where challenges don’t have to be tests or competitions – we like to think of them as opportunities for personal growth. With your instructors and travel companions, you’ll have the opportunity to examine, among other things, where you have been, where you are now, and where you would like to go. And of course, you will get to see beautiful places and learn new skills. Adult 30+ courses are offered 12 months a year and range from 7-10 days in length.
Autumn in Western North Carolina provides a superb backdrop for a personal journey of challenge, renewal and reflection. The kaleidoscope of colors draws thousands of visitors each year, but on a wilderness expedition you’ll experience the season as few do – backpacking deep into national forests and climbing high above the quilts of color.
